Logistical Challenges & Solutions
This project required creative transport methods due to extremely tight historic access constraints:
- Material Transport: Standard wheelbarrows could not be used. The team carried materials in multiple bucket runs through a small basement bulkhead, through an apartment, and out to the backyard.
- Turf Roll Delivery: The heavy, hundreds-of-pounds turf roll could not fit through the narrow exterior alleyway.
- Window Hoist: A six-person crew executed a coordinated maneuver to pass the roll through an upstairs window. Three crew members controlled the descent from above, while three below positioned plywood sheets to safely brace and slide the turf roll into the yard.
