The campus of Mason Preparatory School in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, upgraded its rear courtyard using [[page-3192353|playground artificial turf]] from Grass!365.

The Challenge

The rear courtyard, used for play between the playground and activity court, had degraded into dirt. High traffic carried dirt indoors, necessitating multiple daily floor cleanings. Previous attempts to install sod failed.

Fundraising Approach

To fund the project, Mason Prep displayed a sign at the school entrance showing side-by-side images of children playing on dirt versus lush synthetic grass, prompting parent donations to resolve the issue.

Installation Specs

Grass!365 completed the installation with specific clean-play features:

• Sports Field Pad: Installed beneath the turf to provide cushion.
• Natural Sand Infill: Natural grain sand was used instead of crumb rubber.
• No Crumb Rubber: Eliminated crumb rubber to prevent messes and address potential health concerns.
