Challenges in Nashville Lawns
Homeowners in older, wooded neighborhoods face significant lawn maintenance issues:
- Lack of Sunlight: Heavy shade prevents traditional lawns from thriving.
- Dormancy & Wear: Cool, cloudy winters cause warm-season grasses (like zoysia and bermuda) to go dormant. Cool-season grasses are easily destroyed by foot traffic in these conditions.
Design Solutions
- Synthetic Turf Transition: Converted a dead, shaded backyard lawn into a clean, durable synthetic grass space.
- Granite Border: Installed a custom granite border separating the turf from landscape beds. This provides a formal, English garden aesthetic while preventing mulch and debris from washing onto the artificial grass.
