Superior Designs with Artificial Grass around Pools

This project highlights an artificial turf installation integrated between stone steppers on a pool deck in Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton, SC.

Challenges of Natural Grass near Pools

Designing pool decks with natural grass and pavers presents several limitations:

  • Shade: Courtyards and pool surrounds often lack the sunlight needed to sustain natural grass.
  • Foot Traffic: Heavy use from pool activities quickly wears down and ruins natural turf.
  • Maintenance: Mowing, leaf blowing, and grass clippings contaminating pool water are highly impractical.

Benefits of Artificial Turf around Pools

Synthetic grass solves these challenges and provides key design benefits:

  • No Dormancy Issues: In the Savannah transitional climate, natural grass stays brown until mid-June. Artificial turf remains green year-round.
  • Design Flexibility: Allows for intricate shapes and sizes, like turf strips between stone pavers.
  • No Irrigation: Eliminates both installation and ongoing maintenance costs of watering systems.
